our mission
You may have seen the Mission: Impossible films. These films are entertaining partly because they present a seemingly impossible mission that always, somehow, gets done. A Mission can be defined as a special assignment that is given to a person or group.
Jesus had a mission. He came to earth from heaven knowing His purpose. Even at the age of 12, He told His parents, “Did you not know that I had to be about My Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49). His single-mindedness, determination, and reliance on His heavenly Father’s guidance ensured that at the end of His ministry, He could pray confidently “I have accomplished the work which you gave me to do” (John 17:4). When we look at scripture, we also see that he gave a very clear mission to his followers before he left the earth.
Consider these Jesus quotes from the Bible:
I came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10).
Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men (Mark 1:16).
Go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20).
Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation (Mark 16:15)
In Luke 15, Jesus told 3 stories about finding lost things – a sheep, a coin, and a son. Jesus was clear in tell his followers to reach outside the family of God and tell his story to people who didn’t know it. He invites us to join him on his mission – reaching those outside his family, and bringing them home to the Father.
God has called all of us to follow Jesus whole-heartedly, with full devotion. Following Jesus includes fulfilling his mission, and it includes growing in godly character and spiritual maturity.
As you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, so walk in Him (Colossians 2:6)
Therefore, our Mission is two fold:
First, we want to reach people outside the family of God with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Second, we want to help people grow as followers of Christ.
We have condensed this down to our Mission Statement:
Our Mission:
To reach people with the gospel and help them become fully devoted followers of Christ.
