our story
Everyone has a story to tell. Our story primarily has to do with people – our founding pastor, and the people who shared his vision to see a gospel-focused community of believers established in Scotland. Our story is about the people we are working to reach with the gospel, and it is the story of what they will become in Christ.
CentrePoint Church began as a dream – the dream that God’s salvation through Christ could break into Scotland. The dream that a city like Edinburgh could be touched with the gospel. The dream that God could use normal people to do great things.
We started in September 2005 through the collaboration of an international church-planting team led by our founding pastor, Tom Jackson.
The first public meeting was held in the Dominion Cinemas in Morningside, Edinburgh on 11 September 2005, and moved to the current location in the Omni Centre in May 2006. While our Edinburgh congregation continues to grow, a new opportunity for ministry opened in Bathgate. After some preliminary meetings in January and February, a worship gathering was started on in March 2008. The Bathgate congregation is working to see people reached with the gospel in West Lothian.
This is just the beginning. There are many people in Edinburgh that are far from God – and we want to reach them with the gospel. Additionally - it is our dream to plant churches that effectively reach people with the gospel all over Scotland. We want to join our faith and resources to help plant churches all over Europe.
