Follow Jesus
Jesus said this: “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men” (Mark 1:17). At CentrePoint, we seek to follow Jesus with all of our hearts and to help others do the same. This is what the Bible calls disciples. A disciple is a whole-hearted follower of Christ. Everything we do is centred on the gospel – the good news that because Jesus went to the cross and was raised from the dead, we can be forgiven and have new life in Him.
At CentrePoint, we take Jesus’ words seriously when he told us to go into all the worlds and make disciples (Matthew 28:19). Our Worship Gatherings, Community Groups, and Ministry Teams are designed to challenge us to follow Jesus. Additionally, we offer teaching opportunities to help us grow as disciples.
Here’s the bottom line: We seek to follow Him with all of our hearts, and we work hard so that others can do the same.
Worship Jesus
Jesus said this: a guy discovered a hidden treasure in a field. The treasure is so valuable that he goes and sells everything he has so he can buy the field. Of course, he gets the treasure, and so ends up much richer than he ever was.
Because of who God is and all He has done for us, we are desperately in love with him. That’s what it’s like to know Jesus, and that’s why we worship him. One way we glorify God is to gather weekly to worship God. When we gather, we sing songs, pray, hear the Bible taught, and enjoy each other's company. We look forward to seeing you soon at a Worship Gathering in Edinburgh or Bathgate.
Love People
Jesus said this: By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another (John 13:35). That’s pretty straight up. Easy to say – but sometimes hard to do. Especially in our modern context, it’s easy to live in detached isolation.
To be the church means that we do life together. Rather than living as isolated individuals, we value a sense of connection with each other. We study the Bible and pray together in small groups, we serve together in ministry teams, and we party together at social events. If you’ve not yet connected with people through a community group, check out the groups on offer here.
Serve All
Jesus said this: “The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28). One of the ways that God transforms us is by calling us to a life of service. Serving people that come to our church and serving people in the city.
Jesus also said this: ‘But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all.’ One of the ways you can serve people at CentrePoint is through Ministry Teams, teams of people who serve regularly together to accomplish a task.
