The Progress of the Gospel

Philippians 1:12-18
Context:
Paul is writing a letter to the church in Philippi from a Roman prison with the threat of the death penalty before him.

In Philippians 1:12-18 Paul begins by saying his current circumstance (being in prison) has turned out for the “greater progress of the Gospel”. He then tells us two ways the Gospel is advancing because of this circumstance:

1st – Caesar’s Court, the Praetorian Guard have heard the Gospel

2nd – Other Christians have more courage to preach the Gospel

The Result: Christ is Proclaimed, the Gospel is Advanced!
